DOC's Recommendation
First, I'm thrilled to share a suggestion from Mabel, a junior accounts of DOC (yes, a doctor!) who has impressively reached level 355 with a staggering 104,000 tags. That’s right: one hundred and four thousand! Unbelievable, right? I had a chance to chat with his both accounts on global, and he kindly gave me permission to share this with all of you:
Of course, it is a short recommendation as DOC was not going to write a book using that global chat. Let me explain more in this post.
Acknowledge What Can Be Upgraded
There are 6 types of units and structures you can upgrade in total:
Offensive houses - Upgrade Barracks, Shipyards, and Hangars... to maximize your unit count.
Defensive houses - Strengthen your defenses by upgrading machine guns, sea forts...
Special Units - Enhance elite units like the Ranger and Hunter for tactical advantages.
Cash houses - Your resource (supplies) generation such as Factories, Rigs, and the Airdrop.
Promotion - Promote your units to higher levels for increased firepower and efficiency.
Command Bunker - Upgrade the main Command Bunker to reach to the next level.
Oh my god! There are at least 38 units and structures that can be upgraded in total and completing them all can take several years (if you don't pay). The upgrade times are long, no doubt, but trust me: some veterans say the game actually gets boring once everything is maxed out. As @DOC pointed out, base building and upgrading are truly the best parts of the game.

Battle Islands: 6 Essential Strategies for Victory
I’m excited to share 6 strategies I discovered after several years of playing this game. I originally wrote them for my alliance, DUCKS, but I’m happy to share them with everyone. These strategies might work differently depending on your play style, and of course, there’s no guarantee. Ha ha 😁! Still, I encourage you to give them a try.
Strategy 1: Buy engineers as much as possible
Engineers are the backbone of your base development. They can upgrade houses, expand your army, and strengthen your defensive units. The more engineers you have, the faster you can upgrade and progress, giving you a huge advantage in battle. Although engineers are expensive, it’s worth saving gold to invest in them whenever possible. By default, you can recruit up to five engineers, but paying players can unlock an additional one for even greater efficiency. Remember, while special units like Rangers and Hunters can upgrade themselves, engineers are essential for accelerating the growth of your entire base, so prioritize buying them as much as you can.
Strategy 2: Upgrade What Brings You Supplies
@DOC is absolutely right: your first focus should be upgrading Factories, Rigs, and AirDrops (Supply Drops). These structures generate free supplies continuously. For example, at my CB-8 level, a single Factory or Rig can produce at least 50K supplies per day.
However, keep in mind that these passive sources alone won’t be enough. Even with 5 upgraded Factories, 3 Rigs, and 1 Air-Drop, you’d only collect more or lesser than 450K supplies daily: far short of the 2M supplies needed just to upgrade a small wall.
That’s why the real key to growth is simple: Raiding and Looting. This is the core of the game. To maximize your supply gains, you must raid other bases regularly. And to raid effectively, your offensive power must come first.
Top Upgrade Priorities: Focus on strengthening your offensive units and buildings before anything else.
- Upgrade your offensive houses: Comms Centre / Barracks / Hangars / Shipyards
- Promote your favorite offensive units: Rifleman, Mortarman, Tanks, Gunboats, and Bombers...
- Promote your special units that serve both offensive and defensive units: Ranger and Hunter
(JPDUCK from DUCKS Alliance)
With stronger forces, your daily raids and war efforts will yield far more supplies than passive collection ever could. Securing 500K+ worth of resources per raid is an excellent strategy for maximizing supply intake and dramatically speeding up your base development.
Strategy 3: Upgrade The Command Bunker at last
Remember, folks: don't rush into upgrading your Command Bunker!. Once you upgrade, you’ll move to a higher level and face stronger enemies there. Make sure your troops, defenses, and resources are fully prepared before stepping up. Advancing too soon can leave you vulnerable, so wait until everything is ready before making the leap. During upgrade the main Command Bunker, you have several days to update walls.
Strategy 4: Keep Your Engineers Busy and Keep boosting promotions 24/7
It’s not easy, but do your best to keep all Engineers busy with upgrades at all times. Meanwhile, make sure promotion boosts (10 gold in the Command Bunker) are running around the clock. Normally, promoting a tank can take 6 days, but with boosts you can cut that time down to just 3. Don’t forget: you also get a free promotion boost through the Daily Ration feature, so take advantage of it whenever possible.
Strategy 5: Complete the Campaign Mode
The Campaign mode offers a total of 30 missions, and it’s one of the best ways to earn both Experience and Supplies. The final mission is surprisingly easy and can reward you with up to 1M supplies. Even better, you can replay any mission as many times as you like until you’ve collected all the available supplies. Make sure to take full advantage of this feature to strengthen your base and troops.
Strategy 6: Keep your current supplies Low to Avoid Raids
A base with high supplies can attract enemies. They can loot up to 10% of what you hold. To minimize losses, keep your supplies as low as possible. LOL.
- If you earn rewards after warfare, leave them unclaimed (for up to 24 hours) until you actually need them.
- If your goal is 5M supplies to upgrade a barrack and you currently have 4.5M, don’t just sit, relax and wait. Instead, boost your factories, boost your army and raid even more bases to quickly reach that target.
Personal Note:
At the time of writing, my Command Bunker is still at level 8 but full upgraded. Salep from 505 reset pushed my tag to 13K, matching me against CB10 and maxed bases. Raids are tough. I often lose but sometimes I grab a 1‑star win with big supplies. I’m now resetting my tag to 3K to rejoin my favorite average+ team. 🙂
