Defensive Strategy: Building the Ultimate Fortress

Happy Weekend, DUCKS!

Between the New Year rush and the 'real world' calling, I know we’ve all been swamped. Whether you’re crushing it at work, hitting the books, or chasing after grand-kids, remember: Battle Islands is the great escape, but life is the main mission. We all have other fish to fry, but it’s always a blast to reconnect in the heat of warfare when we find a spare moment!

Shoutout to Popeye for the inspiration! I’ve put together a defensive refresher to help you protect your loot when you are offline or save those crucial stars in warfares. Use these tips to turn your island into a fortress that bites back.

The Lagoon Layout

The most successful top-tier players consistently employ a single strategy: The Lagoon. This approach involves establishing a protected "inner sanctum" within the water, much like a natural lagoon - a shallow area of water separated from the open sea by barriers such as sandbars or coral reefs.

A natural lagoon

The core principle is to position your strongest defensive assets in the center. This strategic placement keeps your defensive units safe from the enemy's range and forces the attacking enemy to navigate and overcome your naval mines to gain access.
  • The Core: Place your Sea Forts, Harbor, The Hunter, and even the Rocket right in the middle.
  • The Buffer: Surround the way in with naval mines and gun turrets
A few samples of the lagoon shape

The Deadly C-Shape

If you have been playing this game for long enough, you may often see some C shape design out there. We called it “the trap” This is a classic for a reason. The game’s AI logic is simple: attackers usually target the nearest building, flatten them and reach to the next one. You can use this "tunnel vision" against them.

The "Trap" strategy involves arranging your buildings in a C-shape to create a path that funnels enemy units into a deadly ambush; as the enemy mindlessly follows the curve to destroy each building, they trigger a hidden trail of land mines while simultaneously being targeted by your centrally placed gun turrets and howitzers.

Watch the curve! The highlighted C-shape is rigged with land mines

Pro-Tips from the Global Feed

I’ve been lurking in the global chat to gather some intel! Here are a few expert secrets on island placement and how to deck out each island with the perfect defensive setup. 😎

Tips from Dangerous and Mabel, they are the same player

Join the Best

No base is 100% invincible. The best offensive strategy will eventually find a way through. However, a smart design is the difference between losing a little and getting flattened.

If you want to see these theories in action, come join DUCKS and check out the bases of Deathbringer, Popeye, Misio, Colin and many great players from our alliance. (shoutout to Colin I totally copied his layout!)

Stay safe, hit hard, and enjoy the weekend!

Go DUCKS!

Growing Together: A New Vision for the DUCKS

It’s January 18th, 2026, and looking back on the last six months, it’s been quite an emotional journey. Our flock has flown high, seen many victories, and weathered many losses, we always keeping our spirits up.

However, we are currently facing a difficult chapter. We’ve said goodbye to some incredible players like SPOOGE, HungAB, and now DINAMA. With OG leaving yesterday and the need to clear inactive spots, things feel a bit different. We’ve also learned a hard lesson: while having high-ranked players is a great honor, their presence alone doesn't guarantee victory. In fact, they may attract powerful enemies that the rest of the team isn't ready to fight yet.

It’s time to sit back, not to relax, but to rethink our path. We may need to fly a bit lower and slower for a while. Our focus now is on growing together, strengthening our current roster, and recruiting dedicated players who want to build something long term.

Have a great weekend, everyone. Thank you for being part of this journey, whether it was for a few days or six months. Wishing you all the best.

Goodbye, HungAB and SPOOGE: Two Warriors We'll Miss

It’s with a touch of sadness that we bid farewell (for now, we hope!) to two of our dedicated warriors: HungAB and SPOOGE. They've been invaluable members of our team, flying with the flock through thick and thin for many months.

SPOOGE, in particular, has been with us almost from day one, a true veteran of our shared adventures. HungAB, too, has been a consistent and reliable presence.

There's a well-known glitch in the game where some players experience persistent crashes upon logging in until their alliance dismisses them, allowing for a sort of "reset." We're holding onto the hope that this is exactly what happened to HungAB and SPOOGE. We desperately hope this step helps them resolve any issues they might be facing. This might be the case for HungAB, as his main Combat Base is still showing unit promotions despite him being offline for over 10 days.

We truly hope to see both of you back in action, soaring with us once again. Until then, fly safe, wherever you are!

Goodbye for now, my friends.

Happy New Year 2026, Team!

Time flies fast, and our flock has flown far together. As we step into 2026, I want to take this moment to thank each and every one of you. It’s truly a pleasure to play alongside such an amazing group, from our newest recruits to our ranked and veteran players.

We’ve built more than just an alliance; We are still striving to build a welcoming alliance where everyone can enjoy the game, celebrate victories, and support one another.

Wishing you all a year filled with success in your business, joy in your achievements, and good health for you and your loved ones. May 2026 bring prosperity, happiness, and unforgettable moments both in-game and in life.

Stronger when we fly together, united as one alliance!

Happy New Year!

Alliance Update: Deathbringer’s Rise 🏆

Our teammate Deathbringer has been on fire lately: raising his tag from 13K to 17K in just a few weeks. An incredible performance that shows his dedication and skill.

Interestingly, Deathbringer also noticed that the tag blocking mechanism seems to be gone. At 13K tags, he was already seeing and raiding bases with 14K tags in his enemy list. Perhaps Mr.Salep from 505 took note of our blog and made some adjustments.

Great work and congrats, Deathbringer! With you in the alliance, we now have a strong chance to face ranked players, bringing tougher challenges, more supplies, and bigger rewards. That’s exactly what we’re aiming for.

The Ducks alliance is no longer weak. We now have more ranked warriors like Deathbringer, and we’re ready to take on top alliances and claim victory.

Welcome back M A K I S I M

This Christmas season brings us not only joy and celebration, but also the honor of welcoming General: M A K I S I M back to our team.

As we gather in the spirit of unity and gratitude, let’s celebrate both the festive season and the strength of leadership returning to guide us.

Merry Christmas to all, and let’s look forward to a bright new chapter together.

Tactical Question: Can 4 Maxed Artillery Strikes Clear These Zone?

Artillery Strike is a favorite tool among top-ranked players. It seems to become significantly more effective at higher levels. From what I’ve observed, pros use it primarily to clear out Jeep clusters, Rifleman groups from gunboats, Rocket Launchers, or tight clusters of defensive buildings.

The Artillery Strike has a 3-yard damage radius, affecting all units within that range. I’m looking for advice from our gurus who have a maxed-out Artillery Strike (340 damage). I am calculating that 4 strikes * 350 damage = 1,400 total damage. Will this be enough to clear the units in the red circle, or do some buildings have higher HP than that?

My question is: If I launch 4 Artillery Strikes exactly on the red crosshairs shown in the images below, will the combined damage be enough to flatten every unit and building inside the red circle?

Drop 3 to 4 Artillery Strikes to maximize damage against nearby structures. The image highlights two ideal target locations.

Can we flatten a big Camp, an A-A gun, a machine gun, and a howitzer using four artillery strikes in the next image?

Wow, this design is a huge mistake. Placing two AA guns and an Airfield this close together is a gift! Is it worth four artillery strikes? Absolutely

How about this? The Gun Turret, AA gun, Howitzer, and Machine Gun are positioned in a series, making them a high-value target for our strategy.

Advanced Artillery Tactics

Finally, I see the most difficult artillery strategies, requiring perfect timing and precision:

  • The Defensive Trap: Trigger the Camp alarm then lure all enemy units toward a cluster of defensive buildings. Once they are grouped up, unleash all four artillery strikes to wipe out the units and the structures simultaneously.
  • The Naval Ambush: Bait enemy gunboats into passing over a suspected minefield. Just as they cross, rain down artillery little by little to detonate the mines and sink the entire fleet

Maybe I’m missing something, but I’ve seen top-ranked players use only three Artillery Strikes to flatten the same targets I mentioned. What’s the secret here? I'd love to hear your advice, warriors!

A huge thank you to DEATHBRINGER, one of our alliance gurus, for reviewing this post and answering my questions in the alliance chat. Your expertise is priceless! I haven’t seen this explained anywhere else on the internet.
I asked for his permission to share these insights here, so the rest of the alliance and the global community can benefit.

The bottom line:
Once Artillery Strike is maxed out, each hit deals 350 damage. This means three strikes are guaranteed to take down any units within the red crosshairs.
